Writing is something that most hate to do, but others like myself enjoy doing. When it comes down to writing, it’s one of the most important things that we do on the daily bases, for school, work, and so on. Now I have met people who want to become a better writer or edit their stories, which I enjoy doing on my spare time. So I am going to share a few tips I have gathered through online and personal experience on how to be a better writer for whatever you want to do.
Write all of your ideas down
Here is a mistake that we all go through, including me. Grab a piece of paper, pen, your smartphone, or whatever you can write on and write your ideas down. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had ideas for articles and I never wrote them down. Writing them down will help you proceed with it. Also, it will help you gather more ideas on what you can write about.
A good writer reads about 1 to 5 books a month. When reading books, you can see how the author wrote the story, and you get an idea and improve on how you write. I read about two books a month, but I recently started listening to them since I am always on the go. So grab a book and start reading it, but get a book that will teach you something valuable like “Think and Grow Rich.”
Read your article over and over again.
One of the essential thing as a writer is to reread what you just wrote. You want to make sure that there is no mistake nor typos, so double checking what you write is a must and make any changes before you submit it.
Get an editor
My friend stormy is currently writing a story, and I will be editing it for her whether you are writing a novel, an article or a paper for school, its essential that you have someone who can read it and they can edit your article. Although you might have fixed some errors, others can catch more errors and help you correct them. My sister in law has looked over my school paper and has told me to start over because it was terrible, but that’s only because she is a fantastic writer and write for Huffington Post if it weren’t for her I wouldn’t be here writing this article either.
Write every day
Don’t just write once a week or once a month. Try to write every day, and you’ll see that your writing will get better in time. You will see your own mistakes, and you will end up rewriting specific sentences or paragraphs again because it doesn’t make sense to you.
Use an app to help you fix any grammar mistake
I use Grammarly at times to double check any grammar mistake I might have since English is my 2nd language although I speak it the most right next to Spanish and French. There are other grammar apps and websites that you can use to help you on grammar and fix any little mistakes.
Get inspired to write something, read books, talk to friends. I can’t tell you how many times I have gotten inspired to write something due just having a conversation with my friends about things. Don’t wait for inspiration to hit; find it, and write about it.
In the end, no one is perfect at writing; all you need to do is practice as much as you can and get better. Writing can be fun if you are writing something that you are intrigued by; it could be anything. Like this article is dedicated to my friend sister, who is young and likes to write.
